The captain of the Italian national football team Giorgio Chiellini has introduced a new series of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) with NFT platform, Blockasset.
The series will air exclusively on Blockasset on July 9th as the footballer prepares to lead Italy in the Euro 2020 final against England at Wembley Stadium. This is Italy’s first European final since 2012, a final the country went on to win through a penalty shootout after Chellini’s defensive partner, Bonucci scored the equalizing goal after conceding in the 6th minute of the game.
According to reports, the collection will reflect the captain’s “gladiator spirit.”
A unique NFT called Gladiator featured Chiellini in an ancient Roman costume as the protagonist. The gladiator’s highest bidder will also have the opportunity to see Chiellini and get one of his own signed jerseys. They also get two tickets to watch the captain’s game, be it for Italy or his hometown club Juventus. At press time, Blockasset’s highest (and only) bid was $965.
The NFT series also includes 25 editions of The Leader. This work of art depicts the Italian captain tackling a gladiator with the Colosseum in the background. 100 editions of The Captain and 1,000 The Icon complete the entire NFT collection.
Blockasset Strikes Deal with Another Juventus Legend
Blockasset is the exclusive host for NFT bids, not just Chiellini’s collection. French football legend David Trezeguet and former player for Juventus club, where Chiellini currently plays, will also launch the NFT series on the platform. According to Blockasset, they’ve partnered with Trezeguet to bring legendary moments in his career to his fans. This will include the goal that gave France a win at the Euro 2000 Championships.
Chiellini and Trezeguet are just two of the athletes who released the series with Blockasset. This relatively new platform and Solana-based market will host boxing champ Terrence Crawford and MMA celebrities Darren Thiel and Leon Edwards as well as the NFT series.
